Esteamed Coffee Video Story

Esteamed Coffee is a 501(c)(3) non-profit coffee shop in Downtown Cary. Originally opening its doors to the public in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the shop has only grown and thrived in the years since.

We're trying to continue to normalize, break down barriers, and connect people with or without disabilities in one community.

— Angie Hudson

Esteamed prides itself on its mission to employ adults with disabilities. Angie Hudson, one of Esteamed’s co-founders, developed a form of macular degeneration in her college years. By graduation, she was legally blind.

Entering the workforce, she found many difficulties in how and when to disclose her disability. She struggled advocating for herself and getting the accommodations she needed.

In the United States, one in every four adults reported having one or more disabilities. However, 75% of adults with disabilities reported that they were not in the labor force.
